After being a father in the fourth episode of Season 3 of FOX’s action series “9-1-1: Lone Star,” Judd meets a surprising guest in the fifth episode. While spending his day at Station 126, Wyatt comes to him with a revelation that changes his life forever. Wyatt’s arrival is followed by that of Marlene, who turns the pages of Judd’s past in front of her family. As tensions rise in Judd and Grace’s home, one has to wonder who Wyatt and Marlene really are. If you are curious about the same, let us provide you with the answers! FRONT SPOILERS.

Who are Wyatt and Marlene?

Wyatt comes to meet Judd with the realization that Judd is his father. When Judd fires him in front of Grace saying it’s a misunderstanding, Wyatt reveals that his mother is Marlene and he did a DNA match through a website to find out that Judd is his father. Although Judd does not reveal knowing Marlene at the time, he meets with Tommy to discuss the case and tells him that he indeed remembers spending a night with Marlene when he was 22.

Marlene was a barrel racer. She met Judd at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo when he was 22. Marlene, just after winning a barrel race, met Judd at a bar and the two had sex without any birth control measures. Judd, under the impression that Marlene was taking care of contraception, did not worry about her becoming pregnant. Even though Judd confirms knowing Wyatt’s mother, Tommy still shares his doubts about the accuracy of a match on a website and asks him to consider a paternity test to confirm that he is the father without a doubt.

Is Judd really Wyatt’s father?

When Tommy offers a paternity test and stresses the importance of such a test in accurately determining the identity of the father, Judd fires her saying he is sure he is Wyatt’s father. Even though Judd’s belief is only emotional and not based on any scientific or medical test, his determination to accept Wyatt as his son makes it clear that a test result is just a formality that has no important to the firefighter. According to Jim Parrack, who portrays Judd, the character’s reluctance to accept Wyatt as his son is due to Judd’s realization that he could lose Grace and Charlie.

Grace’s acceptance of Wyatt and Marlene makes life easier for Judd as Wyatt’s father. Since Grace isn’t holding Wyatt against Judd, he will attempt to fill the father void in Wyatt’s life in future episodes. According to Parrack, Judd’s efforts will begin by meeting with Strand for advice regarding fathering a boy. In the sequel to the third season episodes, we may see Judd oscillate between Charlie and Wyatt as their father. His introduction to fatherhood and the realization of having an unknown son will be an essential part of the narrative for the rest of season three.

Wyatt’s introduction into the Ryders household and eventual acceptance also illustrates the strength of the relationship between Judd and Grace. Even though Wyatt’s arrival affects the foundation of her life with Judd, Grace accepts the predicament as a past incident and looks to Wyatt and Marlene on Judd’s side. She realizes her husband can’t just ignore his own son and invites Marlene to a family dinner to show her support and understanding. Such a gesture also frees Judd from his worries and allows him to accept Wyatt as his son without fear of losing his wife and daughter.

By adding Wyatt, the Ryders become one big family. Between his arduous life as a firefighter, Judd may need to allocate space and time to guide his son and nurture his daughter. As always, we can expect “the Station 126 family” to extend their support as Judd goes through a pivotal time in his life.
