Joel and Mei were getting more and more serious with each other. This puts them both in the hot seat. Now their decisions will dictate the future of their relationship.

Midge and Susie attend Shy’s wedding to Monica and find that Shy’s entire crew, including Reggie, have been replaced. Her talent managers try to bribe Midge, believing the money will keep her speechless. Idealistic as always, Midge refuses, much to the chagrin of her own manager. Rose meets the wealthy and well-to-do Mr. Melamid at the latter’s horse ranch and accepts the task of finding suitable partners for his two daughters. Meanwhile, Susie secures a spot on the Gordon Ford Show for Sophie.

Episode 6, titled “Maisel vs. Lennon: The Cut Contest,” begins with Lenny waking up in Midge’s house. It turns out that Midge left the car in a hurry near the end of Episode 5 because she spotted Lenny on the side of the road, as drunk as anyone can get. End of episode 6 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Will Midge continue to work for Sophie?

Midge and Sophie’s professional relationship was always going to be volatile. At the strip club, Midge gets the chance to say whatever she wants. Part of her has to understand that this is a no-win gig, no matter how much she improves the venue. Sophie’s offer allows her to find her way back to the general public. In return, Midge must ensure that Susie becomes Sophie’s manager again. Realizing this is a great opportunity, Midge talks to Susie, and the latter reluctantly agrees. When the appointed day arrives, the two show up on Sophie’s game show set. Midge quickly wins over the crowd and even avoids mentioning body parts.

Sophie takes the stage and becomes jealous, hearing how positively the audience responds to Midge. This goes back to something Lenny says to Midge earlier in the episode. After realizing that Midge brought him to her house, he becomes incredibly restless and tries to draw a line in their relationship, which he thinks should apparently apply to two comics. And Sophie seems to embody at least some of them. She has proven time and time again that she can be petty and vindictive. When she once again sees how natural Midge is as a comedian, those malevolent emotions once again stir within her.

However, this time, Midge refuses to give ground. So what follows is a passive-aggressive back-and-forth exchange that quickly turns into a total wreck. But it’s highly unlikely that any of them will break professional ties because of this. Midge needs this gig, and Sophie needs Midge because of Susie.

Will Rose stop being a matchmaker?

In episode 5, Rose receives a scented letter from a stranger with a single word written on it: “Stop”. In Episode 6, she discovers that he was sent by a secret organization of matchmakers who control the entire Manhattan dating scene. These women have shared the districts and have no desire to let an upstart like Rose gain a foothold in their sector. They ignored her until she showed up at the Melamid sisters. Their father’s wealth is the main reason for their interest. They tell Rose to quit working in Manhattan, and she seems to agree. Either the writers are ready to take her character on an entirely different path, or there is conflict looming in the near future for Rose.
